Poulenc - Sonata for two clarinets
II. Andante, très lent
III. Vite, avec joie
Ronald Van Spaendonck, André Moisan
Unlike the more famous clarinet sonata written near the end of Poulenc’s life, the Sonata for Two Clarinets is a youthful work dating from his nineteenth year. It is an experimental, angular piece in which only hints of the composer’s mature style can be discerned, as is the case with the Sonata for Clarinet and Bassoon composed a few years later.
