A neo-Riemannian Tonnetz (“tone grid”) mapped onto a torus. In neo-Riemannian harmonic theory, triads are related in terms of the voice leading procedures required to move from one to the other (termed transformations), rather than in functional reference to a stable tonic. Pitches are arranged on the Tonnetz so that consonant triads are formed by triangles.
